Good prices especially on produce. Wide selection of dried and fresh noodles. Wide selection of different types of tofu. Fresh fish also live fish...seemedcpoular so prices must be reasonable. Good variety of housewares, like pots pans ceramic dishes in the Chinese style. This is one of my go to markets for Chinese products and especially produce. Only thing is where to put the cart after loading the groceries ...u have to walk it back to the front of store. Free parking but this lot was busy on a Wednesday afternoon.

This market has good prices. I was looking at the mooncakes, and comparing them to two other markets I had went to, this one has the cheaper price although it's the exact same product. Parking isn't too bad at this market when I went in the early morning.

this is becoming one of my favorite asian supermarket in the area. it used to be a little rundown but i think they had a renovation/cleanup, the interior seems much more spacious and very organized. they carry some niche products that other places do not. while some smaller grocery stores also have them, Cali Mart also has a wide choices of meat and seafood. the location is also great, there are other stores and restaurants in the same plaza; definitely a place where u can get most of your errands done.

In the Alhambra neighborhood, there are quite a lot of Asian supermarkets - Cali Mart is one of the three Chinese/Asian supermarkets I used to go to every week. {Good things} [Alternative Country of Origin] [Higher Brand Variety] Cali Mart usually has more different choices/brands when it comes to sauces, noodles, etc., compared to other markets such as 99 ranch (the big Asian grocery store chain) and Hawaiian supermarket (at Del Mar/Valley). While most Chinese grocery stores would have only one single brand for each item, Cali Mart tends to have multiple brands for the same item. If you were picky with the country of origin just like me, you'll most likely be surprised as you can find products (that otherwise are made in China) from Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, etc. here. I found a nice, traditional non-coated wok that is made in Taiwan, which is very hard to find and is sold at several times the price on amazon. I thought I won't be able to find this kind of wok that is not made in China. I also found a kind of pickled veggie that I thought to be China (Tianjin) exclusive here, who knows Thailand also produces the same pickled veggie? The high variety of brands and Country of Origin is probably one of the best things about Cali Mart. Plus, items except veggies and meat tend to be a good bargain here. Both the price and quality of veggies and meat are not as good compared to other stores. [Parking Available] [Not the Best but, still, Good Deal] While the deals here might not be as good as Hawaiian supermarket (probably the cheapest in the neighborhood, you can tell by the crowd), it is still cheaper than 99 ranch most of the time (unless they're the special deal of the week), and parking is always available. Cali Mart is located in a plaza with a lot of parking slots - and even if it is full at the moment, right at the back door of the plaza there is another lesser-known carpark that is always available. {Bad thing} [No online ads] Probably one of Cali Mart's major downsides is that, unlike most other grocery stores, they do not have a website (no that I am aware of), so you HAVE TO go in person to see what's on sale. [The security guy is a jerk] [rudeness] And, another rather stupid policy of the store is "no bags allowed" - no handbags, backpacks and such. It was said that they suffered from theft in the past, and this is their response. A rather-very-much-stupid policy. They give out plastic bags for free though. Regarding the rudeness, I'll say it's average Chinese-style rudeness for most of the Chinese staff, aka "Dude I am busy can you wait" or "No my English is bad, speak Chinese!" or "they turn around and shout at other staff so they know they need someone who speaks English to come over" kind of rudeness. Talk about emotional damage here lol. But well, growing up in Asia I'd say such rudeness from the Chinese staff is rather normal. It IS the security who always picks on your bags that is rude/annoying. I mean I understand that's literally his job, but well, it's just annoying. He goes all the way by the book, even if you go there every few days and he definitely recognizes you, he won't make any exceptions or what-so-ever. He doesn't really explain, neither in Chinese nor in English, so I'd say he's one of the major reasons people dislike the store.
